what is truth?

John 18:37-38 Therefore Pilate said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." 38 Pilate *said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews and *said to them, "I find no guilt in Him.

A WORLDVIEW SHOULD COVER THE FOLLOWING AREAS

These 5 landmarks form five questions every human must grapple with.

  1. ORIGIN. Where did we come from?

    1. Were we created by God or evolve through unguided random processes?

  2. IDENTITY. Who are we?

    1. What is a human being? Are we more than just animals?

    2. Do we have intrinsic worth or is it determined by external factors?

  3. MEANING. What is real and true, and how do we know it?

    1. What is life all about?

    2. Is there purpose to our lives or must we make it up?

    3. What makes life worth living at all?

  4. MORALITY. How should we live?

    1. Are there rules for the good life? Who makes them?

    2. Is truth and justice true for all times and all cultures, or are they circumstantial?

  5. DESTINY. What happens next?

    1. Where is history headed?

    2. Is there an afterlife?

    3. How do we explain pain, suffering, evil and all that is wrong in the world?
